A bit about Reborn in a Barn
How we started
As a child I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up; build wooden boats! Given that I lived in the English Midlands, about as far from the sea as is possible, I came up with a new plan. No, still not furniture, I trained as a Horticulturist and started work at a Garden Centre.
15 years later I had achieved what I had set out to do and was looking for a new challenge. My wife's antique furniture business was growing fast and I was often coming back from work, turning round and going out to work with her for a few hours. We decided it was time for me to come on board full-time and together to push the business forward.
About a year in a client of ours showed us a picture of a coffee table made from reclaimed wood and asked if we could find anything similar. We couldn't, so I made one! I went through several stages of prototype, error and abject failure before my first table was born. At that stage I owned a cheap cordless drill, a hand saw, hammer and big bag of nails and screws. We've become a little more advanced since then but I still work on new designs in an old stable block and no matter how expensive my tools become, sometimes you do need a big hammer!
